From a class project to a published paper

March 12, 2021

A real success story in the middle of the pandemic at the Aquincum Institute of Technology (AIT). In the Spring of 2020, four students at the AIT Data Science class delivered an exceptionally well-researched final project. Kate Barnes, Tiernon Risenmy, Duc Trihn, and Eli Lleshi provided a content-based predictive analysis on the popularity of memes scraped from the Reddit social media site. Professor Roland Molontay was so satisfied with the project that he motivated the team to continue with the project in the summer to improve it and publish a paper out of it. The team worked hard during the summer with the supervision of Nóra Balogh (TA at AIT) and Professor Molontay. In October the team finalized the paper and submitted it to Applied Network Science, a reputable Springer journal. It got accepted and now it is available online.
