HSDSLab Receives Best Paper Award at ISET 2025 in Bangkok

July 30, 2025

We are pleased to announce that our lab's study, “An Interpretable Machine Learning Application for Predicting and Improving University Readiness”, won the Best Presentation Award last week at the 11th International Symposium on Educational Technology (ISET 2025), in Bangkok.

The research, presented by Dr. Roland Molontay at the conference, describes a web-based predictive application based on data from 126,577 students at six Hungarian universities. The project applies predictive analytics and interpretable machine learning techniques (such as SHAP) to predict students' expected university performance and identify the high school subjects and skills whose improvement could have the greatest impact on future academic success.

The award is the result of outstanding teamwork, for which credit and recognition go to the authors:

  • First author: József Pintér

  • Co-authors: Dr. Marcell Nagy, Donát Köller, Mihály Szabó, Kornél Kovács, Gábor Brunáczky, and Dr. Balázs Szabó

Congratulations to the entire team on the international recognition and outstanding professional achievement!
