Telemedicine Meets Healthy Ageing: Our Newest Publication on Telephone-Based Lifestyle Counselling for Older Adults

October 26, 2026

We are pleased to share our new publication in the journal GeroScience, the result of a collaboration between our laboratory and the Center for Translational Medicine. The paper "Effect of telemedicine-delivered lifestyle interventions in older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic: a nationwide two-arm randomized trial (PROACTIVE-19)" presents the results of a nationwide randomized trial conducted in Hungary.

The study examined the effects of lifestyle counseling delivered by telephone among adults aged 60 and older during the COVID-19 pandemic. Several lifestyle habits improved over time, such as increased fruit and vegetable consumption and reduced smoking; however, the additional benefits of personalized counseling were limited.

Congratulations to all co-authors, especially the first author, Dr. Szilárd Váncsa, as well as our colleagues, Anett Nagy-Szakolczai and Dr. Roland Molontay!
