Our Team's Researchers Presented Two Studies on the Science of Science at the NetSci Conference in Boston

June 11, 2026

We are pleased to report that two of our researchers, Dr. Roland Molontay and Csaba Kiss, attended the 20th anniversary edition of the NetSci conference, organized by the Network Science Society, in Boston. Often regarded as the global capital of network science, Boston provided a fitting venue for this milestone edition of one of the field's most prestigious events.

At the Networks in Science of Science satellite workshop, our laboratory was represented with two presentations:

  • "Structural Change in Concept Networks Predicts Change of Scientific Elites," which examines how changes in the structure of scientific concept networks foreshadow shifts among the leading researchers in a given field (authors: Csaba Kiss and Dr. Roland Molontay).

  • "Status or Structure: What Drives Changes in Research Performance After Institutional Migration?", which investigates the relative roles of institutional prestige and structural network position in shaping researchers' performance following an institutional move (authors: Eszter Tóth, Csaba Kiss, and Dr. Roland Molontay).

Beyond the scientific program, the conference offered valuable opportunities to reconnect with former colleagues and forge new connections among both established leaders and emerging talents in the network science community.

We are grateful for the inspiring conversations and look forward to future collaborations!
