We are proud to report that our laboratory's researchers actively contributed to the Medical Digital Literacy & Research Capacity Building summer school organized by the Institute of Biostatistics and Network Science at Semmelweis University in June. The program welcomed 30 medical students from Guizhou Medical University in China for an intensive educational experience at the intersection of medicine, data science, and artificial intelligence.
Throughout the program, students participated in a series of lectures and hands-on sessions covering machine learning, medical data analysis, critical appraisal of scientific literature, and AI applications in medicine. The summer school concluded with group presentations in which each team evaluated an AI-based medical tool, critically reviewed a scientific publication employing machine learning methods, and used AI-assisted coding for Python-based analysis of medical data. Building on their analyses, students developed, interpreted, and presented an interpretable machine learning model addressing a real-world biomedical problem.
We are proud to have contributed to this unique international educational initiative and to have helped future physicians acquire the knowledge and skills needed for the responsible application of AI in healthcare. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and welcoming more talented students and researchers in the future.
