Our lab is proud to announce its first publication of 2026. Our latest article, co-authored by Csaba Kiss and Dr. Roland Molontay, has been published in the prestigious journal Energy Conversion and Management: X.
This important research was carried out in collaboration with colleagues from the Institute of Nuclear Techniques, Bence Bíró and Dr. Attila Aszódi. The study examines the critical question of how electricity price forecasting has transformed in the complex and often volatile post-pandemic energy market environment.
The key findings provide valuable insights for the energy sector:
Tree-based machine learning models proved to be the most effective for forecasting day-ahead prices.
The research confirms that by 2024, forecasting electricity prices has become a significantly more complex task.
The study also highlights that the factors determining prices vary by country: while in France, hydro and nuclear power generation are the most decisive, in Germany, renewables and imports are the most influential.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all co-authors for this excellent collaboration and significant achievement.
